Scott Brown

Scott is an intellectual property and corporate attorney representing innovative and creative-based businesses. His experience includes representing clients in both private practice and as in-house intellectual property counsel at a Fortune 100 company. In addition to providing general counsel service to several of his creative clients, Scott focuses his practice on corporate structure and strategy, contract drafting and negotiation, trademark registration and enforcement, and all types of web-based and other service agreements. His clients represent a cross-section of cutting-edge markets, including the hemp, blockchain, marketing, and software industries.

Scott grew up in a creative and entrepreneurial family and worked in both his dad’s drum store and his grandparents’ chain of musical instrument stores. Following his interest in music, he majored in music business and management at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music before earning his law degree at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

Scott enjoys interacting with the local arts and business community and is a featured speaker with the Columbus Arts Council and the Entrepreneurial Business Law Clinic at the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He is a proud Columbus native and currently resides in Worthington with his wife and children.

In addition to his corporate practice, Scott is highly experienced in all aspects of trademark law, including clearance of proposed marks, prosecution of marks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and enforcement of trademark infringement claims. While working as in-house counsel at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company, he was responsible for the company’s large trademark portfolio. As outside counsel, he has advised and obtained registrations for a variety of clients, including celebrity athletes, restaurants and bars, marketing agencies, authors, musicians, and even a scientific methodology firm. He is also highly knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of copyright law, including registrations and infringements. While Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and a pragmatic approach to advising his clients, it is the creativity and drive of his clients that inspire him.
